It is time to share my sunrise engagement photo session (engagement photo session shot in DC) of 2019! I met Sarah and Brian through The Knot and had the most fortunate opportunity to meet in person over coffee. We chatted all things wedding related and later, all things engagement session. They may have been the bravest clients I’ve ever had enduring the coldest temps I’ve ever endured for a photo-session! (Honeymoon to Alaska sound like a good idea?).
I loved Sarah’s pink dress and Brian’s navy suit and the colors complimented the couple perfectly. Because it was so cold on their session, there were plenty of real snuggles – not just for the shots I was getting with my cameras but also in between the shots (#thesnuggleisreal).
But I should back up to the couple’s first meeting (in college) and dating story! Sarah and Brian were friends first and actually didn’t start dating until they moved to DC after college. The couple’s idea of a perfect date lies between the impromptu, simple glass of wine that turns into a nice dinner and coffee dates that turn into an adventure exploring a local art museum. After all, it is DC and there is so much to explore! Sarah and Brian enjoy exploring various coffee shops and they might bear off the path to find a local farmers market and fresh flowers from a florist.
As the relationship blossomed, thoughts of marriage guided the two and being natural planners, and maybe because Sarah had dropped a few hints along the way, they did shop together for a ring. The final ring selection was a surprise, but Sarah did have a hunch that something was up! I love how Brian spared no time in asking Sarah’s hand in marriage.”I felt like I couldn’t wait another minute to start our life together,” insert your favorite LOVE GIF below for that quote (mine would be a hitting a home run GIF!)! Truth be told my engagement ring went from shop to my finger in less than 12 hours so… I’d say I see a theme…
Getting to know the couple through the engagement session is important to me! I love learning about your story, your wedding plans and feeling all the excitement for you! (I should add that I have the one advantage of not having to PLAN a wedding!) But having the chance to see how a vision comes to life over the several months of wedding planning is precious to me. No two wedding visions are the same and the uniqueness of that vision reflects each couple’s one of a kind connection. It just does not get better than that!
So for now, we look forward to a mild (ha ha) summer wedding in July at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church and a reception at the Mayflower Hotel. Leading up to the ceremony our hope is to have an opportunity to get great photos in Georgetown (oh so romantic!). Looking forward to seeing the bride’s Amsale Wedding Dress and florals and all the other special details! Now that the dress is chosen, the wedding planning is nearly done! Just kidding! We all wish that were true, but we know good things come to those who wait! This lovely wedding will be as perfect as the love that Sarah and Brian already share!
Sarah and Brian – I am overjoyed to be able to share this journey with you all! I hope you enjoy the blog post/images! (and nearly 200 images in your gallery!) I was able to weave in some lovely film images shot with my Contax645 along with my trusted Canon 5D Mark IV. Thank you again for braving the elements, putting together the perfect wardrobe and for making this sunrise engagement photo session as epic as you both are! <3
Sincerely,
Michelle
